Fungicides have become an integral part of efficient food production. The loss of a fungicide to agriculture through resistance is a problem that affects us all.

FRAC works to prolong the effectiveness of fungicides liable to encounter resistance problems and to limit crop losses should resistance appear.

The 2010 FRAC Mode of Action Poster© is now available as a PDF download on the FRAC publications webpage. Parallel to the updates made in the 2010 FRAC Code List several changes were also implemented in the 2010 poster. For example, the strobilurins pyraoxystrobin and pyrametostrobin were added to target site group C3. Penflufen was added to C2. Ametoctradin was added to a new group C8. Proquinazid was moved from unknown mode of action to E1. Dodine was moved from multi-site (M7) to unknown mode of action (U12).

The Banana Working Group met on March 11th, 2010 in Miami, FL. The monitoring results and fungicide use recommendations for 2010/2011 are now available online in English. The Spanish version of the minutes will follow soon.

The 2009 monitoring data for the SDHI fungicides have been reviewed by the SDHI Working Group and are now available online. The use recommendations for 2010 are also included. Resistance risk classification for SDHIs was modified following a review discussion during the last SDHI Working Group meeting.

The January 2010 update for the list of resistant plant pathogens is now available online on the FRAC publications webpage. There are 13 new entries in the list. The new entries are flagged as blue citations in the reference column beginning on page 10 of the document.

The FRAC Secretary has prepared a useful reference document entitled, "FRAC List of Fungicide Common Names©". The list contains all common names in the FRAC Code List 2010, but are sorted alphabetically for easy reference.

The FRAC Steering Committee has prepared a new reference document on recommendations for fungicide mixtures designed to delay resistance evolution. This document can be found on the publications pages of the FRAC website.

In December 2009 the FRAC Steering Committee reviewed and revised the FRAC Code List©. The 2010 update is now available online. New for the list is the SDHI penflufen (C2), the QoIs: pyraoxystrobin and pyrametostrobin (C3) and the complex III inhibitor ametoctradin (C8). Furthermore, proquinazid and quinoxyfen (E1) have been grouped together and dodine (U12) has been separated from other guanidines (M7).

The complete version of the 2009 SBI Working Group protocol and recommendations are available online, including now the results and recommendations for Asian soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi). This update is based on discussions at the most recent FRAC Brasil meeting. Please refer to topic 2.1. for details.

The list of experts on benzimidazole resistance have been updated. Any questions concerning resistance to this fungicide group can be directed to Jean-Luc Genet or these experts.

The 2009 monitoring data for the CAA fungicides have been reviewed by the CAA Working Group and are now available online. The use recommendations for 2010 are also included.

The 2009 monitoring data were reviewed by the SBI Working Group and are now available online.

Data for the AP fungicides have been reviewed by the FRAC AP Working Group and are now available online. The use recommendations for 2010 have not been changed due to the stable situation recorded in the monitoring studies.

The FRAC CAA Working Group has compiled two publications lists. The first list includes published reports on the sensitivity to CAAs in Plasmopara viticolaand Pseudoperonospora cubensis. The second list includes publications on the mode of action of CAAs in Oomycetes.

Two PDF versions of the 2009 Mode of Action Poster© are available for downloading. A low resolution version for viewing on your PC and a high resolution version is suitable for printing a wall poster.

The FRAC Leaflet describes the objectives, organisation and informational resources available on the FRAC website. It is now available online.

An important revision of the Spanish translation of the minutes of the Banana FRAC Working Group Meeting in Orlando, Florida in February 2008 is now available online. Changes were made in Section 3.1.

The first report for the SDHI Working Group has been published on the FRAC Website. Monitoring information for 2008 as well as the SDHI fungicide use guidelines for 2009 are available online.

2009-02-21 New Members appointed to the FRAC Steering Committee

At the FRAC Steering Committee meeting on Dec. 17, 2008 in Frankfurt, Germany, two new members were appointed to the Committee. Dr. Kristin Klappach (BASF SE) was elected in Dec. 2008 by the newly formed SDHI Working Group as its new Chairwoman. In this role, Dr. Klappach was appointed to the FRAC Steering Committee. Also, Dr. Andreas Mehl (Bayer Cropscience) was appointed to take over the Chair of the Banana Working Group from Dr. Helge Sierotzki (Syngenta) and in this capacity he also joins the FRAC Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is grateful to Dr. Helge Sierotzki for his leadership of the Banana Working Group over the last 2 years and his time and contributions to the Steering Committee.

2009-02-20 New Monitoring Methods have been posted on the FRAC website

Six new or revised FRAC monitoring methods from the SDHI WG and AP WG have been added to the Monitoring Methods webpage. These methods provide detailed, ready-to-use bioassay techniques to monitor fungal pathogens. The new methods can now be downloaded from the FRAC website.

2009-02-20 – The FRAC Code List© for 2009 has been updated

In December 2008 the FRAC Steering Committee reviewed and revised the FRAC Code List©. The list updated for 2009 is now available online.

2009-02-19– Final monitoring update for Anilinopyrimidines

The FRAC AP Working Group had a TelCon on Jan. 26, 2009 to discuss the monitoring data for anilinoyrimidines in pome fruits. The final 2008 monitoring report is now available on the FRAC website, including use recommendations for 2009. No changes in the use recommendations were made.

2009-01-28 – 2006 publication in Outlooks on Pest Management is now available online

An article written by Phil E. Russell on the work, organisation and accomplishments of the internationally active Fungicide Resistance Action Committee has been posted on the Publications page of the FRAC website.

2009-01-28 – The Phenylamide Expert Forum has been updated

The information and literature in the Phenylamide Expert Forum has been reviewed and updated by the new Chair, Dr. Dietrich Hermann (Syngenta Crop Protection). The update can be found on the Expert Fora page of the FRAC website.
